Job description

Medical Office Assistant for the Radius Community Health and Healing’s Respite to Recovery (R2R) program (in collaboration with a partnering shelter), which serves individuals experiencing homelessness who are ill, but medically stable enough to temporarily convalesce in a shelter/transitional housing setting with medical supports.

Key Responsibilities

•General reception duties including greeting clients, answering phones, and checking messages

•Ensures maintenance of schedule by checking in each client

•Keeping client demographics up to date

•General clerical duties including keeping inventory of and ordering office supplies, preparing invoices, scanning and mailing documents.

•Assists the Charge Nurse/Supervisor with data collection and compiling statistics.

•Schedule, confirm and coordinate appointments including notification of clients and arranging transportation to same

•Stock up and set up treatment rooms as required

•Working as part of an interdisciplinary team

•Assisting nursing staff with various duties as requested/required (e.g., client laundry, cleaning rooms, etc.)

•Work co-operatively with partnering shelter’s staff and management while following the partnering shelter’s guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

•Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant certificate program

•Experience working with marginalized populations

•Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Strong computer proficiency 

• Current CPR certification
